Finally, after several patents registered to date, Sony has revealed the PlayStation 5 controller: welcome to DualSense, which replaces the iconic DualShock and marks the first major design change in the history of Sony consoles. The big news is in the haptic sensors, improvements in the L2 and R2 triggers (which will also have haptic functionality), Sensor Bar (control light) and the Create button.

Due to the good reception of the DualShock 4, Sony decided to keep intact some characteristics of the control of the current generation, but of course, with many relevant improvements - such as the Sensor Bar and the Touchpad. So check out the functions and design of DualSense, the PS5 controller, below.

DualSense: haptic sensors in the control and triggers

Some features have been added to DualSense which, together with the PS5's Tempest 3D AudioTech, will provide a new sense of immersion to players. In addition to the novelty, we also see for the first time a haptic sensor, which adds a variety of sensations that you feel when you touch, such as the slowness of driving a car in the mud, for example. Apparently, the control will have very different vibrations and tactile responses, but Sony has not yet given many details.

The company revealed that it incorporated adaptive triggers on the L2 and R2 buttons, making it possible to feel the tension of the actions, such as when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow (which will also have some haptic feedback).

The idea is to bring immersion to the user's gambling with several extra information that are passed through more precise vibrations, giving the feeling that the player is actually in the game. Sony has yet to say whether the entire control will have a tactile response or just a few parts.

New Design
What is most striking is the design change, with rounded edges very similar to an Xbox controller, with total firmness in the footprint. Sony said that by adding new sensors and features, the weight increases, but did everything to reduce it and make the experience ergonomic and comfortable for all types of hands.

The Touchpad, shown in DualShock 4, continues, but has had its design slightly changed. The Sensor Bar also had changes: it exits the back of the joystick to the front with two side bars, allowing players to have clearer and easier to understand visual information.

And finally, for the first time, a PlayStation controller will have two colors, ceasing to be monochrome and adopting a more futuristic look.

Exit Share button, enter Create button
The Share button had its retirement and gave way to the Create button, which will have more information soon, but, apparently, the button will give more options for players to create their own content.

Rechargeable battery and built-in microphone
As last revealed features, DualSense still brings some surprises. Sony will keep the rechargeable battery in control of the PS5 and, according to the company, will bring a "strong and durable battery".

In addition, for the first time players will have a microphone built into the controller. Basically, it will be possible to record your voice or communicate with friends or playmates without having to plug a headset into the controller.

However, Sony says that if the user chooses to keep the battery of the controller, it is possible to connect a headset. But, so far, the design does not seem to show a P2 input (possibly the hole below is the microphone). Therefore, we don't know if only bluetooth headsets will be compatible.

                                               ...

The PlayStation 5 is expected to launch in late 2020, but we still don't have much details on the look or price of the console. So, has DualSense increased the hype for the PS5?
